Basic and Advanced Fertilizer recipes

An Assembler combines 1 Plant Ash and 1 Quicklime Powder into 1 Basic Fertilizer in 4 seconds. For Advanced Fertilizer, combine 1 Basic Fertilizer and 1 Gloom Fungus in an Assembler to make 1 in 4 seconds.

Prepare the fertilizer ingredients

Harvest Sage and feed it to a Crucible: 1 Sage makes 1 Plant Ash in 3 seconds.
Process Limestone through a Stone Crusher to obtain Stone. A Crucible then turns 1 Stone into 1 Quicklime in 9 seconds, and a Grinder turns 1 Quicklime into 1 Quicklime Powder in 9 seconds.
Send the Plant Ash and Quicklime Powder to the Basic Fertilizer Assembler. Keep its output available for the Nursery or the Advanced Fertilizer recipe.
For the advanced chain, process Rotten Logs with a Table Saw to obtain Gloom Fungus. That recipe also produces Planks, so include both products when arranging the output. Feed the fungus and Basic Fertilizer into the Advanced Fertilizer Assembler.

Build and supply the Nursery

Build a Nursery with 8 Iron Ingots and 4 Clay. Add the seed for the herb you want and supply fertilizer to keep automatic growth running.

Unlike a manual Seed Plot, the Nursery keeps its seed instead of consuming it. Fertilizer needs a continuous supply, while the grown herbs leave through the production output.

To automate the upstream resources, use purchasing portals for Limestone and Sage Seeds, then connect the Stone, Quicklime Powder and Plant Ash stages to the fertilizer chain.
