A practical starting order
Complete early quests while building your first production lines. Quests advance progress through the technology tree and can provide money; selling products to customers is another way to earn money.
Begin with the Table Saw, then queue the Grinder, a small storage box, and a conveyor belt. Check each building's input and output arrows and keep the first layouts compact.
Use the Table Saw to turn Logs into Planks. Each Log supplies 200 Planks, with 1 Plank produced in 2 seconds at the base rate of 30 per minute.
Add Stone production with a Stone Crusher. It processes Limestone into Stone, producing 1 Stone in 3 seconds of recipe time.
For the linen chain, a Grinder turns 1 Flax into 1 Flax Fiber in 3 seconds. A Processor then turns 3 Flax Fiber into 1 Linen Thread in 3 seconds and 2 Linen Thread into 1 Linen Rope in 6 seconds.
Keeping production supplied
Connect one machine to the next and compare their input and output rates before duplicating machines. In the demonstrated setup, one stage produces 30 per minute while the following machines each consume 10 per minute, so two additional copies use the full output.

Watch the factory setup guide for a demonstration of rate matching, belt routing, furnace fuel, and raw-resource connections.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
- How much can a default conveyor belt carry?
- A default conveyor belt moves 60 items per minute. Press Tab and open the world overview to inspect operating speeds.
- How many 30-per-minute Table Saws fit one belt?
- Two Table Saws can supply 60 planks per minute to one default belt. Adding another to that belt causes a clog and prevents optimal production.
- How should I supply a heat-based machine?
- Put fuel into the furnace to produce heat, place the machine that uses the heat on top, and feed fuel from a box through a belt into the furnace input.
- How can raw-resource supply be connected directly?
- Place a supply building for each raw resource being used, such as wood, limestone, and iron ore, and plug each one directly into its machine.
- How can a purchasing portal automate material supply?
- Connect a coin Conveyor Belt to the portal input and a Raw Materials Conveyor Belt to its output, then select the desired material in the interface. The portal sends materials through the exit when it receives enough coins.
